What Is Microneedling?

How Does Microneedling Work?
A microneedling treatment is done in a treatment room for around 30 – 60 minutes with numbing cream or local anesthesia if preferred; however, patients generally feel mild or no pain and discomfort. The skin being treated will be cleaned before the handpiece is evenly passed over. After the microneedling is performed, a topical treatment, like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a serum with a vitamin infusion, may be applied for deeper penetration of the nutrients into the skin.
If PRP is part of your microneedling session, a member of our team will take a sample of your blood for your PRP collection. The blood will then be taken to our laboratory for the separation process where your platelets, growth factors, and stem cells can be condensed into PRP. Once the microneedling is complete, the PRP serum will be put on the skin to sink in. After the PRP is fully absorbed, we will clear away the serum and cleanse the skin. A moisturizer selected for your skin type will be massaged in along with sunscreen because your skin will be sensitive after the treatment.
