Everything You Need to Know About Opus Plasma Skin Resurfacing
Looking for a treatment that turns back the clock and doesn’t cost you major time away from your routine?
Meet Opus Plasma skin resurfacing, now available at Luminous Glow Skin and Laser, your premier Medspa in Buckeye, AZ. This innovative treatment combines two powerful modalities—plasma energy and radiofrequency (RF)—to rejuvenate your skin both on the surface and deep within.
If you’re curious about how the treatment works and what to expect, you’ve come to the right place. Read on for answers to all your questions about Opus Plasma, the next revolution in skin resurfacing.
What Is Opus Plasma?
Opus Plasma by Alma Lasers is the first fractional skin resurfacing technology that uses plasma energy—not light—to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate collagen remodeling and elastin production, improving skin tone, texture, and firmness.
Unlike traditional lasers, Opus Plasma delivers results with minimal downtime, making it a favorite for those who want dramatic improvements without putting life on hold.
How Does Opus Plasma Work?
Did you know we lose 1% of our collagen production every year after we turn 20? It’s one of the biggest reasons we develop wrinkles, uneven skin texture, and other signs of aging (Scientific American). Opus Plasma reinvigorates our natural collagen production to reverse this loss and rejuvenate our skin from the inside out.
The device uses fractional plasma energy combined with RF technology to target both the epidermis (surface) and dermis (deeper layers) of the skin. Plasma energy creates tiny channels of controlled damage, triggering your body’s natural healing response. This process:
- Stimulates collagen and elastin production
- Smooths wrinkles and fine lines
- Improves skin texture and tone
- Reduces scars and stretch marks
What Does Opus Plasma Treat?
Opus Plasma is popular for everything from skin tightening to acne scar treatments, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Lax or sagging skin
- Crow’s feet
- Pigmentation and dark spots
- Dull, tired-looking skin
- Acne scars
- Scars from trauma or surgery
- Stretch marks
- Large pores
- Uneven texture
It’s customizable and can be precisely adjusted to suit a wide range of concerns on the face, neck, chest, and body.
Why Choose Opus Plasma Over Traditional Lasers?
- Minimal downtime compared to CO2 or erbium lasers
- Customizable intensity for different skin types and concerns
- Safe and effective for most skin tones
- Visible results after just one session, with continued improvement over time
How Is Opus Plasma Different From Other Skin Resurfacing Treatments?
What sets Opus Plasma apart from other skin resurfacing and plasma fibroblasting treatments is the combination of plasma and RF energy.
RF reaches deeper into the skin, heating the underlying layers of the dermis to boost collagen production and tighten skin. At the same time, the plasma treats more superficial layers of the skin, minimizing damage and the resulting downtime.
This combination also makes Opus Plasma highly versatile and effective for both delicate areas (such as the eyelids) and larger concerns (such as stretch marks on the abdomen).
Is Opus Plasma Safe for All Skin Types?
Yes, it is safe for all skin types, even dark skin. Some skin resurfacing treatments carry a risk of hypo or hyperpigmentation for deeper skin tones, but Opus Plasma has been cleared for Fitzpatrick types I through V.
Are Opus Plasma Treatments Painful?
Treatments aren’t typically painful with proper numbing. Your provider will apply a topical numbing cream and allow it to take effect for 20 to 30 minutes before starting your session. With this numbing, most people find they only feel some warmth during the treatment.
Treatments are also quick, taking only 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treated area.
How Many Opus Plasma Treatments Will I Need?
Many people start to see improvements in their skin after their first treatment, especially as collagen production continues over the following weeks. However, you will most likely need about 3 treatments spaced a month apart to see your best results.
How Much Does Opus Plasma Cost?
Typical costs range from $600–$2,500 per session.

What Is Opus Plasma Recovery Like?
You can expect some redness and swelling for 2 to 3 days, after which time most people can return to their normal activities and cover any residual redness with makeup. Your skin will be especially sensitive to UV rays, so you will need to avoid direct sun exposure and make sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen for the next 2 weeks.
